An exceptional tuocha from Simao, Yunnan, this tea is perfect for puerh lovers and beginners. This is a shou, or cooked, puerh with lovely sweet notes that pair well with the classic tart, earthy flavor that is expected of puerhs.

About This Tea

This tea is an exceptional example of a shou, or cooked, puerh from Simao, Yunnan. Shou puerhs are fermented in piles which can produce a very different flavor profile from a sheng, or raw, puerh. This tea has the classic peat-like notes that are typical of puerhs, but took on a lovely chocolate note from the pile fermentation.

These tea is made with much longer leaves that is often typical of a tuocha, resulting in a smooth and enjoyable mouthfeel. When brewed in the gong fu style, the tea has has no bitterness or astringency, with only mild astringency in the cup when brewed in a mug.

Origin: Yunnan, China | Tea Style: Compressed Tuocha

Brewing Instructions

This tea shines when brewed in the gong fu style. We suggest first washing the tea–a quick brew that is then discarded–to allow the leaves to open up. This tea can be brewed 8-10 times in the gong fu style. Alternatively, this tea can be brewed in a mug. We recommend using one tuocha per mug or gong fu session.

Brewing Temp: 212°F | 100°C

Brewing Time: 5 minutes
